Resources for Employers

WorkBC offers a range of professional services to assist you and your business

Hire Inclusively

Access an under-tapped labour pool and show the community you value diversity in the workplace by hiring a person with diverse abilities. On-the-job coaching from our experienced staff is available for candidates who need extra support to learn a new job.

Wage Subsidy

Hiring and training a new employee can be costly. The Wage Subsidy Program helps reduce the cost associated with a new hire by providing an incentive for employers to hire, train, and enhance a candidate’s skills. The subsidy covers a percentage of the new employee’s wage for a duration of up to 24 weeks.

Funding for Work Clothing, Tools, and Training Courses

Work clothing such as boots or scrubs, tools, and short courses such as FoodSafe and First Aid is often available to your new hires who show a need for financial assistance.

Job Fairs and Info Session

WorkBC can host free job fairs and forums for employers looking to hire. These events are effective and efficient in building your team- whether you have one or multiple positions available.

Office Space for Interviews

We can provide you with space to interview job candidates at either our Westshore or Sooke WorkBC Centres.

Lay-off Support

If you need to decrease the size of your team, WorkBC can speak with your transitioning employees to provide them with job search support and options such as retraining, in order to move forward.

Unpaid Work Experience

Unpaid Work Experience provides job seekers with a way to gain needed skills, or it can assist you and the job seeker in assessing their interest and aptitude in a particular field. Employers often uncover an untapped pool of candidates amongst work experience participants. Lasting from one day to 12 weeks, depending on the participant’s eligibility, it is open to job seekers on income assistance who demonstrate a need for such an experience.
